water facts and figures exercise
Ref: B10c

• Every year on Earth 500,000 cubic kilometres of seawater evaporates, eventually it will fall as rainwater.

• 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water but about one-hundredth of a percent (0.01%) of this water is available for use by humans!

• Your body weight is made up of 70% water. Do this simple sum below to work out the weight of the water in your body.

Your weight in Kilograms x 0.70 = the amount of water you are made up of (in Kgs)!

What does 1 litre of water weigh in kgs and lbs? Weigh a litre of water to find out.

There is an old rhyme which says: "A pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter". See if this is true and come up with a rhyme for a litre of water.
