You have been reading about the water cycle in this ‘Background’ section. You are now going to use your knowledge to draw a diagram of the water cycle in operation where you live.

• You will need an A3 sheet of plain paper and a blue pen or felt tip pen

• You should include the following in your diagram:

1. Rain
2. Your nearest stream
3. Your nearest river
4. Clouds
5. Your school
6. The sea
7. Water vapour.

Remember it is the water cycle, so everything should link and join up to form a continuous circle.

• When you are happy with your water cycle diagram add in the following processes and features:

1. Evaporation
2. Purification
3. Transportation
4. Storage
5. Condensation
6. Percolation.

If you are having difficulties refresh your memory by looking at the information on the water cycle provided in this section again (B2).

Show on your diagram where pollution or dirty water may enter the water cycle.
